PM Modi Slams Fujairah Strike as Unacceptable After Three Indians Injured in UAE Attack

India strongly backs UAE and calls for immediate halt to violence targeting civilians and critical infrastructure

New Delhi, May 5, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday strongly condemned the attack on the United Arab Emirates’ Fujairah region that left three Indian nationals injured, describing the assault on civilians and essential infrastructure as completely unacceptable.

Reacting to the strike amid escalating tensions in West Asia, Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed India’s solidarity with the UAE and emphasized the urgent need for peace and stability in the region. He stressed that attacks endangering innocent lives and damaging civilian assets violate international norms and threaten broader regional security.

The incident occurred after a drone and missile assault triggered a fire at the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone, a strategically significant energy hub in the UAE. Three Indian citizens sustained moderate injuries during the attack and are currently receiving medical care. Indian authorities and diplomatic channels are closely monitoring their condition.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs also issued a sharp response, calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities while reiterating New Delhi’s commitment to diplomacy, dialogue, and peaceful conflict resolution. The government further highlighted the importance of maintaining safe navigation and commercial movement through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global trade route.

Prime Minister Modi’s statement reflects India’s growing concern over the safety of its citizens in the Gulf region, where millions of Indians live and work. It also underscores India’s strategic partnership with the UAE and its broader interest in ensuring stability across West Asia.

As geopolitical tensions continue to rise, India has positioned itself firmly against violence targeting civilian populations while advocating diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation. The Fujairah attack has added fresh urgency to international efforts aimed at restoring peace in the volatile region.
