Bihar to Get Permanent Women’s Skill Institute Campus and International Training Centre in Patna

Patna, July 23, 2026:Bihar has taken a significant step toward expanding its skill development infrastructure with the announcement of a permanent campus for the National Skill Training Institute for Women (NSTI-W) in Patna and the establishment of a Skill India International Centre (SIIC). The twin initiatives aim to improve technical education for women while creating global employment opportunities for the state’s youth.

The announcement was made by Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary. During the programme, the foundation stone for the new NSTI-W campus was laid in Bihta by Directorate General of Training (DGT) Director General Dilip Kumar. On the same occasion, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Bihar Government exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding for setting up the Skill India International Centre in Patna.

The permanent NSTI-W campus will be built with an investment of nearly ₹100 crore and will feature academic facilities, administrative infrastructure and hostel accommodation for women trainees. The new campus is expected to significantly enhance the institute’s capacity to provide industry-oriented vocational education.

Officials said the institute will introduce a wider range of training programmes covering both traditional and emerging sectors. Planned courses include Artificial Intelligence and Programming Assistance, Drone Technology, Solar Technology, Radiology Technology, Electronics, Fashion Design and several instructor training programmes. Once fully operational, the institute is expected to train around 435 students annually.

The Skill India International Centre will be developed with central assistance of about ₹7 crore. Its objective is to prepare candidates for overseas employment by offering foreign language training, career guidance, international certification support, pre-departure orientation and assistance for safe migration.

The centre will also focus on skill development in sectors witnessing strong international demand, including electrical services, plumbing, construction, agriculture and other specialised trades. Training modules will be aligned with international occupational standards and the workforce requirements of foreign employers.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said the projects would strengthen Bihar’s skill ecosystem by equipping women and young people with industry-relevant expertise and better employment prospects. He noted that the initiatives would support self-reliance while contributing to the broader vision of a developed Bihar and a developed India.

Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary highlighted that women-led development remains a key pillar of India’s growth strategy. He said the new campus would provide modern learning infrastructure for women, while the international centre would prepare Bihar’s youth with globally recognised skills, language proficiency and career opportunities abroad.

NSTI-W Patna is currently the only Central Government-operated skill training institute dedicated exclusively to women in Bihar. The institute has been functioning from a temporary campus and has already conducted programmes under the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS), Craft Instructor Training Scheme (CITS), PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and several entrepreneurship and skill development initiatives.

With the upcoming permanent campus and the international training centre, Bihar is expected to strengthen its role in producing a skilled workforce capable of meeting both domestic industrial demand and overseas employment requirements.
