A long-standing demand from residents of several villages in Panipat district for the construction of a Railway Over Bridge (ROB) at the Narayana railway crossing has reached the Union Railway Ministry following the intervention of Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Bhatia. The Ministry has informed that the proposal is currently under review and further action will be taken after the examination process is completed.
The issue pertains to Railway Crossing No. 43 on the Samalkha–Narayana route, where a Railway Under Bridge (RUB) is already under construction. Residents of Narayana, Dodhpur, Titana, Didwari, Budsham, Khalila Prahladpur, Manna and nearby villages have demanded that an ROB be constructed above the proposed underpass to ensure smooth and uninterrupted movement in the future.
According to local residents and Gram Panchayat representatives, the road is one of the key transport links for the surrounding rural belt. They expressed concern that relying solely on an underpass could create operational challenges during the rainy season due to waterlogging. They also pointed out that heavy agricultural machinery, tractors, trolleys, school buses and commercial vehicles could face difficulties using the route, making an overbridge a more practical long-term solution.
After receiving a joint representation from the villagers, Sanjay Bhatia took up the matter with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw through a letter sent on June 3, 2026. In his communication, Bhatia stated that while the underpass would help reduce congestion, the addition of an ROB would better serve the region’s future transportation needs and provide a durable infrastructure solution for farmers, students, traders and daily commuters.
Responding to the request, the Railway Minister, in a communication dated July 22, 2026, informed the Rajya Sabha MP that the proposal for constructing an ROB at Railway Crossing No. 43 in Narayana was under examination. The Minister further conveyed that a decision would be taken after the technical assessment and due consideration of the proposal.
The development has generated optimism among residents of the affected villages, who have been pursuing the demand for improved railway infrastructure for years. Local representatives believe that if approved, the overbridge would significantly enhance road connectivity, improve traffic movement and reduce transportation-related problems in the area.
Sanjay Bhatia said he remains committed to raising public issues before the government and will continue to pursue matters that contribute to better infrastructure and public convenience across the region.
