The fire broke out at the Flourish Stay B&B in Malviya Nagar on Wednesday morning. Delhi Police received information about the blaze at around 8:48 a.m., following which emergency response teams rushed to the spot and launched rescue and evacuation operations.

Firefighters deployed eight fire tenders to control the blaze. Through coordinated efforts involving Delhi Police, Fire Services, and other emergency agencies, more than 40 people were rescued from the building and shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Despite extensive rescue efforts, 21 people lost their lives in the incident. Officials said search and rescue operations continued for several hours to ensure no one remained trapped inside the structure.

Fire Officer A.K. Malik stated that the department initially dispatched seven fire tenders after receiving the emergency call around 8:50 a.m., with additional units sent subsequently. He noted that 37 occupants were rescued during the operation.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the building comprised a basement, ground floor, and five upper floors.
