Police Investigate Rivalry Angle as Students Demand Action Following Attack on Popular Educator’s Institute

Patna, June 3: A major security scare unfolded in Bihar’s capital after educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, reported an attack on his coaching institute in Patna. The incident involved alleged stone pelting, vandalism and reports of firing outside the coaching centre, leaving a security guard injured and triggering protests by students.

According to police, the incident took place late Tuesday night in the Musallahpur Haat area under the jurisdiction of Kadamkuan Police Station. Authorities received information around 10:10 pm and immediately dispatched a police team to the scene. CCTV footage from the institute and surrounding areas is being examined as part of the investigation.

Preliminary investigations suggest that 15 to 20 individuals were allegedly involved in the attack. Police have identified several suspects and are probing whether the incident was linked to rivalry between coaching institutes operating in the area. However, officials have not yet confirmed the exact motive behind the attack.

Khan Sir alleged that the attackers assaulted security personnel, damaged property and opened fire at the institute. He claimed that certain rival coaching operators were unhappy with his institute’s low-fee education model and growing success in competitive examination results. He further stated that a formal FIR has been registered and all available CCTV footage has been handed over to investigators.

The incident sparked outrage among students, many of whom gathered outside the coaching centre on Wednesday, demanding strict action against those responsible. Heavy police deployment was made in the area to maintain law and order and prevent any further escalation.

Police officials said all angles, including coaching-sector rivalry and other possible motives, are being examined. Raids are reportedly underway to identify and arrest the accused individuals involved in the attack.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns over safety and increasing competition within Patna’s coaching industry, which serves thousands of students preparing for competitive examinations every year. Authorities have assured that the matter is being investigated thoroughly and appropriate action will be taken based on evidence collected during the probe.
