National Testing Agency, NTA has addressed the recent controversy surrounding the NEET (UG) results, attributing the increase in the cutoff to the competitive nature of the examination and the higher performance standards achieved by candidates this year. In a clarification issued in response to queries from candidates, the NTA explained that differences between the old and new editions of the NCERT textbook led Subject Experts to accept two options as correct instead of one for a particular question.
The NTA further clarified that out of the 67 candidates who received full marks, 44 benefited from a revision in one answer key of the Physics section, while six candidates received compensatory marks for the loss of examination time. The Grievance Redressal Committee, which was established to address student concerns, verified the loss of examination time and awarded compensatory marks based on the candidates’ answering efficiency and the time lost. An analysis of CCTV footage confirmed that the integrity of the examination was maintained at these centers.
