Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday held extensive consultations with representatives of Andhra Pradesh‘s aquaculture and tobacco sectors to discuss strategies aimed at accelerating industry growth, improving exports, and increasing income opportunities for farmers.

The meeting brought together Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, senior officials from the Central and Andhra Pradesh governments, Members of Parliament, and state ministers to deliberate on key challenges and growth prospects for both industries.

During the discussions, participants examined ways to strengthen the aquaculture ecosystem, with a focus on expanding export potential, improving infrastructure, and reinforcing the sector’s role in driving India’s blue economy and coastal development.

The Commerce Minister reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to supporting farmers and producers through better market access, fair remuneration, and policy measures that encourage higher-value exports. He said the government is working to create new opportunities that will contribute to Andhra Pradesh’s economic growth while enhancing India’s global competitiveness in agricultural and marine exports.

The interaction also highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts between the Centre, the state government, and industry stakeholders to improve productivity, attract investment, and build a more resilient export-oriented ecosystem.

Separately, Goyal met United Arab Emirates Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri and his delegation to review progress in India-UAE economic cooperation. The two leaders discussed expanding collaboration in trade, investment, tourism, and connectivity, while exploring new avenues to deepen commercial partnerships and strengthen bilateral economic relations.
