
Emphasising responsible use of natural resources, she urged experts, students, and researchers to contribute towards improving groundwater levels, advancing agriculture, and supporting urban farming initiatives. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector through innovation and research.

Speaking at the event, Delhi Minister for Social Welfare and welfare of SC and ST communities, Ravinder Indraj Singh, underlined the importance of restoring traditional water sources such as ponds and johads to improve water availability and quality.

He expressed concern over the environmental and health impact of excessive chemical fertiliser use, noting a gradual shift towards organic farming practices encouraged under national leadership. He also stressed the need to ensure fair pricing for organic produce to support farmers economically.

The minister added that despite rapid urban growth, a significant portion of land in Delhi remains under cultivation, with farmers continuing to play a crucial role. He said government initiatives promoting sustainable agriculture and modern technology adoption are expected to further strengthen the farming community and contribute to a greener and healthier capital.
