Karnataka is experiencing heavy rainfall, leading to the suspension of train connectivity between Bengaluru and Coastal Karnataka

In Karnataka, several districts are facing significant challenges due to heavy rainfall. The Shiradi Ghat in Sakleshpur taluk and Charmadi Ghat highways have been blocked by mudslides and falling stones, halting vehicle movement as efforts to clear the debris continue. Train connectivity between Bengaluru and Coastal Karnataka remains suspended, while Netravati River has risen, submerging highways near Uppinangady.

At a landslide site on Highway 75 in Sakleshpur, fire force personnel, National Highways staff, and disaster management teams are working to remove debris. They have already cleared an LPG tanker, a tipper, and an electric car from the site. Railways are working to restore the track between Yedakumari and Kadagaravalli stations in Hassan, where 94 wagons of boulders were removed and the tracks were reinforced with sandbags.

Heavy downpours, landslides, and road flooding have also affected road connectivity to Kodagu. In Virajpet taluk, six people stranded in floodwaters were rescued, and residents of Karadigodu village, located on the banks of the Cauvery River, were relocated. The Bhadra, KRS, and Kabini reservoirs have reported heavy inflows, and water is being released downstream with alerts issued to residents living near the riverbanks.
