Sikkim Krantikari Morcha, leader Prem Singh Tamang is scheduled to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Sikkim today. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok at 4 PM. Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Mr. Tamang and his Council of Ministers. This will mark Mr. Tamang’s second term in office.
In light of the swearing-in ceremony, all government and private schools, colleges, and academic institutions within the Gangtok Municipal Corporation area will remain closed today. This decision aims to facilitate security arrangements and accommodate restrictions on vehicle movement in the area.
The SKM secured a decisive victory, winning 31 out of 32 seats in the Assembly. Meanwhile, the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) managed to secure just one seat, with its President and former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling being defeated in both constituencies he contested.
