Congress fails to fulfill a single guarantee, yet Priyanka ready with new ‘guarantees ka pitara’ : Anurag Thakur

Priyanka's ‘maun’ on women issues in Congress ruled states shows her true character: Anurag Thakur

Gagret/Haroli/Una/Kutlahar, Himachal Pradesh ,28 May 2024: Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Hamirpur Lok Sabha and Union Minister Shri Anurag Singh Thakur today criticized Priyanka Gandhi’s rally in Una for announcing new guarantees even as old ones remain unfulfilled. He questioned why there was no explanation for these incomplete promises made during previous assembly elections. According to Anurag Thakur, Sukhu and Rahul Gandhi have exhausted their false guarantees and are now compelled to send Priyanka Gandhi to deceive the people of Himachal again. “The women of Hamirpur and Himachal Pradesh had high hopes that Priyanka Gandhi would address her promise of ₹1500 per month made 16 months ago. Instead, she presented a list of new, false promises without addressing previous commitments. The public, feeling deceived for 16 months, is now angry and determined to vote on June 1 to remove Congress entirely from Himachal.”

Shri Anurag Thakur shared these views during conversations at over a dozen public meetings and with media persons in the Gagret, Haroli, Una, and Kutlahar assemblies. He highlighted the development work done by the Modi government and himself while exposing Congress’s failures to the people.

Anurag Thakur accused Congress of seeking power by any means, ignoring public welfare once in power. He noted that Himachal Pradesh has suffered under Congress for the last 16 months. He recalled that Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi made grand promises during the assembly elections 16 months ago, none of which have been fulfilled. Now, they are repeating their deceptive election campaign for the Lok Sabha elections. Anurag Thakur criticized Congress leaders for underestimating the public’s intelligence, believing that people will accept their false promises and vote for them. He predicted that Congress would be reduced to fewer than 40 seats in the 2024 elections following their defeats in 2014 and 2019.

Anurag Thakur further commented, “Priyanka Gandhi, who promotes the slogan Ladki hu lad sakti hu, ignores the atrocities against women in Sandeshkhali, Bengal, and the brutal murder of a Congress worker’s daughter in Karnataka. They overlook these issues due to their vote bank politics. They also ignore the harassment of a woman MP by their colleagues because it doesn’t fit their narrative. These leaders engage in selective politics regarding women’s issues. The country is aware of this and repeatedly rejects them. Priyanka Gandhi should change her slogan to Ladki hu lekin lad nahi sakti hu.”

Anurag Thakur highlighted that in the past 10 years, Modi has significantly advanced women’s empowerment. With the historic Nari Shakti Vandan Act, Modi provided 33% reservation for women in legislative bodies throughout the country. During Dhumal ji’s tenure in Himachal Pradesh, he ensured 50% reservation for women in Panchayati Raj institutions. Additionally, the BJP organization includes 25% reservation for women, demonstrating the party’s commitment to women’s empowerment. Anurag Thakur noted that Modi made a poor tribal woman the President of India and appointed a woman as the country’s Finance Minister. Under Modi’s leadership, women have benefited most from public welfare schemes. Over 50% of the four crore houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana are owned by women. Modi has also provided 11 crore free cooking gas connections, 13 crore tap water connections, and 12 crore toilets, improving the lives of rural women. India’s success in reaching the South Pole of the Moon involves the hard work of women scientists. India also has the highest number of women pilots globally, and today, our daughters are courageous enough to confront enemies with AK-47s. These transformations have only been possible under the Modi government.”
