Rishikesh, April 23, 2026: Vice President C P Radhakrishnan addressed the sixth convocation ceremony of AIIMS Rishikesh, calling on graduating students to dedicate themselves to service with empathy, integrity and commitment towards nation building. He described the occasion as a turning point marking both achievement and responsibility for young medical professionals.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice President highlighted the significance of Rishikesh as a centre of reflection and healing, adding that such an environment adds deeper meaning to the transition from student life to professional service.
He emphasised that a medical career is not just about personal success but about addressing the needs of society. He urged graduates to take up their roles with a strong sense of duty and purpose.

Referring to the pandemic period, he said India demonstrated resilience and innovation in its healthcare response. He noted the scale of the vaccination drive, which ensured access to vaccines across the country, and praised the contribution of scientists and healthcare workers.
He also highlighted India’s global outreach through vaccine assistance to several countries, calling it an example of humanitarian commitment and international responsibility.

The Vice President spoke about the expansion of healthcare infrastructure in recent years, including the establishment of new AIIMS institutions to improve access to quality medical services and education in different regions.
He praised AIIMS Rishikesh for its contribution to healthcare through a combination of clinical excellence, research and innovation. He particularly noted the role of telemedicine in reaching remote populations beyond traditional hospital settings.

Highlighting innovation, he mentioned the use of advanced solutions such as emergency air services and drone based medicine delivery in difficult terrains.
He also acknowledged the development of infrastructure in Uttarakhand and appreciated efforts to improve public services in the region.
Concluding his address, the Vice President said healthcare professionals play a vital role in nation building and urged them to focus on service, research and outreach while upholding the highest ethical standards.
