Colombo, April 19, 2026: Vice President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan arrived in Sri Lanka on Sunday, marking his first foreign visit since taking office in September last year.
The two day visit is expected to focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation and reinforcing long standing ties between the two neighbouring countries. During his stay, the Vice President is scheduled to meet Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, along with other senior leaders.
Officials said the visit reflects India’s continued emphasis on its Neighbourhood First policy and its commitment to strengthening partnerships in the Indian Ocean region. It also follows a series of high level engagements between the two nations in recent months.
The Vice President is also expected to interact with members of the Indian community in Sri Lanka, highlighting the strong cultural and people to people connections that have shaped relations between the two countries for centuries.
