Rahul Gandhi Amit Shah: Congress Leader Demands Accountability Over Student Assault.
Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, expressing serious concern over the alleged use of force against students during a recent protest. In his letter, Gandhi described the incident as deeply disturbing and urged the government to ensure accountability.
He called for an impartial investigation into the police action, alleging that students were subjected to excessive force, including baton charges and gunfire. Gandhi said those responsible for the incident should face strict legal consequences.
The Congress leader also urged the Central Government to safeguard the democratic right of students to express their views peacefully. He maintained that any use of violence against unarmed protesters undermines constitutional values and weakens public trust in institutions.
In addition to seeking action against the officials involved, Rahul Gandhi demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi publicly apologise to the students, stating that such an incident warrants both accountability and acknowledgement at the highest level.
The matter has sparked political debate, with the Congress accusing the government of suppressing dissent, while the Centre is yet to issue a detailed response to the allegations.
