New Delhi, July 22: Aryan Gupta, who secured All India Rank (AIR) 1 in the NEET UG 2026 re-examination, has opened up about the emotional turmoil he experienced after the original examination was cancelled due to the alleged paper leak. He said the unexpected turn of events left him heartbroken, but determination and family support helped him make a strong comeback.
Reflecting on the difficult period, Gupta said he was deeply affected when the examination was cancelled and struggled to accept the situation. He admitted that the incident left him devastated and emotionally drained before he decided to focus once again on his studies.
According to Gupta, he soon realised that millions of other aspirants were facing the same uncertainty. Instead of dwelling on the setback, he resumed his preparation the very next day and remained committed to his goal. His consistent efforts eventually resulted in him securing the top rank in the re-conducted NEET UG examination held on June 21.
The NEET topper credited his parents, elder brother and teachers for standing by him throughout the challenging phase. He said the emotional encouragement from his family and the academic guidance of his mentors played a crucial role in helping him stay motivated. Gupta’s parents are both doctors, and he acknowledged that they provided him with a strong academic foundation as well as emotional strength.
Sharing advice with future NEET aspirants, Gupta urged students to trust their teachers, maintain discipline and remain consistent in their preparation. He said daily hard work and dedication ultimately lead to success, regardless of temporary setbacks.
Meanwhile, AIR 2 holder Panshul Bansal said he chose to utilise the extra preparation time instead of participating in protests over the examination controversy. He viewed the re-examination as an opportunity to improve his performance and focused entirely on his studies.
The NEET UG 2026 paper leak triggered widespread protests across the country, with thousands of students demanding accountability and reforms in the examination process. The controversy led to the cancellation of the original exam and the conduct of a nationwide re-test for lakhs of aspirants.
