The retest was conducted after some candidates claimed they had lost exam time, leading to their initial award of grace marks. Out of the 1563 candidates, only 813 appeared for the retest. The exam took place in the same six cities but at different centers. Notably, none of the two candidates from Chandigarh appeared for the retest. In Chhattisgarh, 291 out of 602 students appeared, while only one student from Gujarat took the retest. In Haryana, 287 out of 494 candidates appeared, and in Meghalaya’s Tura, 234 candidates attended the retest.
In related developments, the Centre is considering holding NEET UG online from next year. This year’s NEET UG result, announced on June 4, drew attention due to the timing coinciding with the Lok Sabha election results. Concerns were raised over an unusual number of toppers, some scoring 718 and 719 marks, and allegations of paper leaks in several regions.
