NPTI Inaugurates the 33rd Batch of Three-Week Mandatory Foundation Training Programme

Faridabad, 13 July 2026: The National Power Training Institute (NPTI), under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, inaugurated the 33rd Batch of the Three-Week Mandatory Foundation Training Programme at its Corporate Office in Sector-33, Faridabad. More than 100 young officers from Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) under the Ministry of Power, including NHPC, DVC, SJVN and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), are participating in the programme.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Shri Mahesh Kumar Sharma, Director (Finance), NHPC, as the Chief Guest. He was welcomed with a sapling by Shri Hemant Jain, Member (Grid Operation & Distribution), Central Electricity Authority (CEA), and Director General, NPTI. The programme aims to enhance the technical competence, professional capabilities and leadership skills of young officers in the power sector.

In her welcome address, Dr. Indu Maheshwari, Principal Director (Training), NPTI, emphasized that the programme is not merely a platform for knowledge enhancement but also an opportunity for participants from diverse organizations to come together with a shared vision of Energy Transition**. Quoting Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, she encouraged the participants to embrace collaborative learning and work collectively towards the future of the power sector.

Delivering the keynote address, Shri Hemant Jain highlighted that every segment of the power sector—generation, transmission, distribution, energy efficiency and regulation—is closely interconnected. He stated that the objective of the Foundation Training Programme is to develop a holistic understanding among young professionals, enabling them to utilize resources more effectively, improve operational efficiency, and successfully address the evolving challenges of the energy sector.

In his inaugural address, Shri Mahesh Kumar Sharma** described NPTI as the country’s premier institution for training and human resource development in the power sector. He observed that decarbonization, digitalization and decentralization will shape the future of the energy sector, making skilled and well-trained professionals more important than ever. Congratulating NPTI for successfully conducting 32 Foundation Training Programmes and training more than 2,500 officers from various CPSUs, he extended his best wishes to the participants of the 33rd batch.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Mahendra Singh, Deputy Director, NPTI, while the event was successfully coordinated by Dr. Anurag Rai, Assistant Director, NPTI.
