New Delhi, June 6: Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday said that India’s youth are the country’s greatest asset and will play a decisive role in achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047.
Addressing the ‘Youth for Viksit Bharat: MY Bharat Youth Convention’ at Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi, the minister emphasized that India’s demographic strength provides a unique opportunity to accelerate growth, innovation and nation-building.
The convention brought together more than 6,000 young participants from across the country, including students, entrepreneurs, innovators, professionals, content creators, volunteers and emerging leaders. The event highlighted the contribution of youth in shaping India’s future and showcased several youth-centric initiatives being implemented nationwide.
Dr. Mandaviya said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, young Indians are being provided with unprecedented opportunities to excel in fields such as entrepreneurship, sports, innovation, public service and creative industries. He noted that nearly 65 percent of India’s population is below the age of 35, making youth empowerment central to the country’s development agenda.
The minister also highlighted the role of MY Bharat in connecting and mobilising young people for nation-building activities. He praised the platform’s recent Guinness World Record achievement and encouraged youngsters to actively participate in volunteer programmes and developmental initiatives.
“The future belongs to the youth. The vision of Viksit Bharat can only be achieved through the ideas, innovation and aspirations of young Indians,” he said while urging participants to contribute towards building a confident, self-reliant and globally competitive India.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who also addressed the gathering, said India’s youth possess the talent, determination and creativity needed to take the nation to greater heights. She stressed that every achievement by a young Indian strengthens the country’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.
Highlighting the importance of hard work and perseverance, Gupta applauded the accomplishments of young Indians in sports, entrepreneurship, content creation, arts and public service.
The event also featured interactions with several prominent personalities, including singer and MLA Maithili Thakur, actor Vikrant Massey, entrepreneur Aman Gupta and Indian cricketer Jitesh Sharma. They shared their experiences and encouraged young people to pursue excellence while contributing to national development.
Vikrant Massey spoke about the rapid growth of India’s creator economy, while Aman Gupta discussed the country’s emergence as a global startup hub driven by innovation and entrepreneurship. Cricketer Jitesh Sharma inspired aspiring athletes through his address on the theme “Play in India, Play for India.”
The convention concluded with the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp’, where participants reaffirmed their commitment to actively contribute towards building a developed, inclusive and self-reliant India by the centenary year of Independence in 2047.
