Chennai: Indian Institute of Technology Madras has launched three new beginner-level Artificial Intelligence courses on its digital learning platform SWAYAM Plus, with registrations now open for interested learners across the country.
The courses — AI for Aspiring Engineers, AI for Administrators, and Prompt Engineering — are designed to introduce foundational AI concepts without requiring prior coding experience. The registration window will remain open until May 10, 2026.
The programmes were launched by V. Kamakoti during an event marking two years of SWAYAM Plus operations, held on campus in collaboration with IITM Pravartak.
According to the institute, the “AI for Aspiring Engineers” course focuses on equipping students transitioning into engineering with basic skills in Python, AI, and machine learning using real-world datasets. “AI for Administrators” aims to help professionals make informed decisions using AI and generative technologies, while the Prompt Engineering course teaches effective interaction with AI systems to generate accurate outputs.
The initiative is part of the broader ‘AI for All’ campaign launched in May 2025, which has already seen strong participation. The first batch recorded over 42,000 registrations across multiple interdisciplinary AI courses, while the second batch attracted more than 50,000 learners, including educators.
Officials said the platform continues to bring together stakeholders from government, academia, and industry to expand access to emerging technology education and skill development.
