New Delhi, April 24, 2026: The Ministry of Rural Development has finalised the national calendar for SARAS Aajeevika Melas for the financial year 2026 27 with a focus on boosting rural livelihoods, supporting women entrepreneurs, and promoting traditional crafts across the country.
According to the schedule, three major events will be organised in the National Capital Region. The SARAS Aajeevika Mela will take place at Leisure Valley Park in Gurugram from October 22 to November 6, 2026. This will be followed by the SARAS Food Festival at Sunder Nursery in New Delhi from November 21 to December 8, 2026. Another SARAS Aajeevika Mela will be organised at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi from February 1 to February 28, 2027.
These events are part of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Rural Livelihoods Mission and provide a national platform for Self Help Groups and rural artisans to showcase their products and skills.
The melas are expected to see participation from women entrepreneurs representing various states and union territories, offering a wide range of products including handlooms, handicrafts, organic goods, and regional food items. The initiative aims to connect rural producers directly with urban consumers, thereby improving income opportunities and visibility.
Officials stated that the programme will also strengthen market linkages, promote local products, and support capacity building in areas such as packaging, branding, and marketing. In addition to business opportunities, the events will highlight cultural diversity through traditional art, cuisine, and performances, contributing to inclusive growth and preservation of indigenous crafts.
