Mumbai, April 13, 2026: The passing of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle has left the Indian film industry in deep mourning, with veteran actor Mumtaz expressing heartfelt grief over not being able to speak to her one last time.

Sharing her last memory, Mumtaz revealed that she rushed to the hospital upon hearing about Asha Bhosle’s deteriorating health. However, doctors informed her that the singer was in critical condition, leaving her unable to interact with her.

“I went there hoping to speak with her, but couldn’t. As I stepped out, I was informed that she had passed away,” Mumtaz said. The following day, she visited the singer’s residence and remembered seeing a serene glow on her face.

Asha Bhosle, who passed away at the age of 92 due to multi-organ failure, leaves behind an extraordinary legacy spanning over eight decades. With more than 12,000 songs to her credit, she was celebrated for her versatility across genres.

Her collaborations with Mumtaz resulted in several memorable songs, including “Koi Shahri Babu” from Loafer and “Duniya Mein Logon Ko” from Apna Desh.

Recalling their musical association, Mumtaz shared that Asha Bhosle once described “Aaja O Mere Raja” as one of the most challenging songs of her career due to its complex vocal variations.

The emotional tribute from Mumtaz reflects the deep bond shared between the two icons, marking the end of an era in Indian music and cinema.
