National Consultation 2026 to Strengthen Digital Access to Justice Under Tele-Law Programme

Vice-President to inaugurate event showcasing tech-driven legal innovations

New Delhi, March 28, 2026; The Department of Justice will host the National Consultation 2026 under the Tele-Law initiative of the DISHA Scheme on March 29 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The event aims to advance technology-enabled legal services and foster dialogue among key stakeholders across the country. The programme will be graced by the Vice-President of India C.P. Radhakrishnan as Chief Guest, with Arjun Ram Meghwal attending as Guest of Honour.

The Consultation will begin with ceremonial proceedings including the National Song, National Anthem, and lamp lighting, followed by a special segment commemorating 150 years of “Vande Mataram.” The Secretary of the Department of Justice will deliver the Welcome Address, setting the context for discussions focused on improving access to justice through digital tools. A highlight of the event will be the launch of the “Voice of Beneficiaries” Booklet 2025–26, capturing transformative stories of individuals benefitting from Tele-Law services.

Participants will also engage in live interactions with Tele-Law Panel Lawyers, Village Level Entrepreneurs, and beneficiaries to demonstrate the grassroots impact of technology-enabled legal aid. The event will spotlight Pro Bono initiatives by Delhi law colleges, emphasizing academic institutions’ role in advancing access to justice.

The Consultation will unveil several knowledge products and innovations, including the Nyaya Setu AI-powered chatbot and mascot to guide citizens on legal matters, a White Paper consolidating expert recommendations on Tele-Law services, and a series of legal awareness comic books developed with National Law University, Delhi to simplify legal concepts for youth and first-time users.

The programme will conclude with keynote addresses by the Vice-President and the Minister of State for Law and Justice, followed by the National Anthem, National Song, and High Tea. Around 1,200 attendees including officials from the Supreme Court e-Committee, National Legal Services Authority, lawyers, VLEs, faculty, students, and government representatives will participate in person, with additional stakeholders joining virtually from across India.

The National Consultation under the Tele-Law Programme represents a significant step in the government’s efforts to bridge the justice gap through technology, awareness, and capacity-building, setting the stage for strengthening last-mile access to legal services nationwide.
