New Delhi, November 4, 2025: The Union Minister for Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, will represent India at the King Hamad Lecture for Neutral Justice Ceremony and the Conference on the Future of International Commercial Courts, scheduled to take place in the Kingdom of Bahrain on November 5–6, 2025.
The event is being hosted by the Council for International Dispute Resolution (CIDR), under the patronage of the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs, and Endowments of Bahrain. It will convene prominent global legal minds, jurists, and policymakers to discuss the evolving landscape of international dispute resolution and judicial cooperation.
Meghwal will deliver the keynote address on “Promoting Commerce Between Bahrain and India” during a dedicated session titled “Bahrain–India: Pathways Towards Successful Commerce.”
The session will also include Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court of India; Prof. Marike Paulsson, Secretary-General, CIDR Bahrain; and Dr. Pinky Anand, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India.
In his address, the Union Minister is expected to underscore India’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s commercial dispute resolution framework through major legal and institutional reforms. He will highlight initiatives undertaken by the Government of India to make arbitration and mediation systems more accessible, transparent, and globally competitive.
India’s participation aims to reinforce bilateral cooperation between India and Bahrain in the field of arbitration, mediation, and judicial capacity building. Meghwal will emphasize India’s commitment to collaborative partnerships with the CIDR and the India International Arbitration Centre (IIAC), focusing on:
Exchange of best practices in arbitration and mediation,
Professional capacity-building programs, and
Mutual recognition of arbitral awards in cross-border disputes.
By taking part in the Bahrain conference, India reaffirms its leadership in promoting fair, neutral, and efficient transnational commercial justice. The event is expected to open new avenues for judicial collaboration and contribute to the shared goal of ensuring a more equitable international legal order.
