Delhi Police Holds Inter-State Coordination Meet Ahead of Independence Day; Security Measures Reviewed

New Delhi, August 5, 2026: Delhi Police on Wednesday held an Inter-State Coordination Meeting at the Delhi Police Headquarters ahead of the Independence Day celebrations to strengthen coordination among law enforcement agencies and ensure foolproof security arrangements across the National Capital Region.

The meeting was chaired by Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar and attended by senior police officers from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir and Chandigarh.

Senior officials from central intelligence and enforcement agencies, along with officers from Delhi Police’s Law & Order, Special Cell, Traffic, Crime, Security, Intelligence and other units, also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, officers exchanged intelligence inputs and reviewed anti-terror and preventive security measures, including border checking, verification of suspicious individuals and vehicles, and the timely sharing of information between agencies.

Security concerns related to the movement of drones, paragliders and other flying objects in open areas were also discussed. Authorities stressed the need for continuous monitoring and immediate sharing of advance information about suspicious movements.

The meeting also reviewed social media monitoring, interstate criminal gangs operating in the NCR, illegal firearms and narcotics trafficking. Traffic restrictions during Independence Day celebrations and measures to prevent unauthorised entry through interstate borders were also discussed.

Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar called for stronger ground-level coordination between agencies, particularly in border areas, and stressed prompt action on intelligence inputs related to potential security threats.

He also directed focused and sustained efforts against organised criminal gangs, including gangs being operated from abroad, while emphasising the need to tackle emerging trends in drug trafficking and illegal arms supply.

The Commissioner called for a joint action plan and coordinated strategy against organised crime and urged all participating agencies to maintain close cooperation to ensure seamless and foolproof security arrangements during the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
