According to officials, Singh will arrive in Lucknow on the evening of March 12 for a two-day visit. The following day, he will attend several programmes in the city before inaugurating the corridor at Samtamulak Square around 4:30 pm. After the ceremony, he is scheduled to inspect the newly developed stretch extending towards Daliganj Bridge and interact with personnel associated with the project.
The programme will be followed by a public address at Jhulelal Vatika in Hasanganj, after which the defence minister is expected to depart for New Delhi later in the evening.
The Green Corridor is one of Lucknow’s key urban infrastructure projects designed to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in some of the city’s busiest areas. The corridor forms part of a signal-free road network connecting major localities such as Daliganj, Hanuman Setu, Nishatganj and Samta Mulak crossing, which are known for heavy traffic movement.
Developed by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), the larger Green Corridor project is planned as a long signal-free route linking IIM Road to Kisan Path, significantly improving north–south connectivity across the city. Officials say the project will help shorten travel times and ease pressure on several crowded intersections near educational institutions and commercial zones.
Earlier, the inauguration had been postponed due to scheduling constraints, even though the road infrastructure had already been completed. Authorities later scheduled the opening for mid-March, clearing the way for the corridor to finally be opened to traffic after months of anticipation.
Once operational, the Green Corridor is expected to play a crucial role in improving urban mobility in Lucknow and supporting the city’s growing transport demands.
