The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted extensive and potentially very heavy rainfall across India over the coming seven days.
The Northeast and Western Himalayan regions are expected to experience significant rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning throughout the week. Similar weather conditions are anticipated in Eastern India for the next 3-4 days.
Conversely, Peninsular India is likely to see reduced rainfall activity during this period. Regions including Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Konkan, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Haryana-Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Punjab, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall until August 14.
The IMD has urged residents in these areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to mitigate the impact of the heavy rains, including potential risks like flash floods and landslides. Authorities are also advised to be on alert and prepare for possible emergencies triggered by these intense weather conditions.
