VP C P Radhakrishnan Reaches Tiruchirappalli for Central University of Tamil Nadu Convocation

Tiruchirappalli, August 17, 2026; Vice President of India C P Radhakrishnan arrived at Tiruchirappalli International Airport on Monday as part of his two-day Tamil Nadu visit and proceeded towards Tiruvarur to attend the 11th convocation of the Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN).

After landing at the airport from Chennai, the Vice President travelled by helicopter towards the university campus at Neelakudi. Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and State Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhiaan accompanied him during the journey.

A temporary helipad has been arranged within the university premises for the Vice President’s arrival. From there, he is scheduled to travel to the convocation venue, where he will participate as the chief guest and address the graduating students.

During the ceremony, Radhakrishnan will confer degrees and gold medals on students who have secured top positions in their respective programmes. The convocation is being organised at the university’s multipurpose auditorium and is being presided over by Chancellor Padmanabhan.

Established under the Union Ministry of Education, the Central University of Tamil Nadu has nearly 4,000 students enrolled in various programmes. Its student community includes learners from Tamil Nadu as well as states such as Kerala, Odisha, Gujarat and West Bengal.

The Vice President’s visit follows his participation in the 22nd convocation of SRM Institute of Science and Technology at Kattankulathur in Chengalpattu on Sunday.

At the SRMIST event, Radhakrishnan presented an honorary degree to R Velusamy, President of the Automotive Business at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. While interacting with graduating students, he urged them to adopt a forward-looking approach and focus not only on preparing for coming opportunities but also on contributing to the creation of the future.
