Varanasi, August 17, 2026; The Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi has taken on a festive appearance as the city observes Nag Panchami alongside the third Monday of the sacred Sawan month.

The revered temple complex has been transformed with extensive floral decorations and illumination, creating a striking atmosphere for devotees arriving to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.

Fresh flowers have been used extensively throughout the premises, with colourful garlands adorning the temple’s entrances, pillars and elevated sections. The traditional architecture of the shrine has been further highlighted through carefully placed decorative lighting.

The temple’s prominent domes and spires have been illuminated for the special occasion, while sacred symbols and tridents across the complex have also been lit up as part of the festive arrangements.

The convergence of Nag Panchami and Sawan Somvar has added further religious significance to the day. Both occasions draw large numbers of devotees, with worshippers observing traditional rituals dedicated to Lord Shiva and paying reverence to serpent deities associated with Nag Panchami.

Temple preparations have been made keeping in mind the expected increase in pilgrim footfall at the prominent Jyotirlinga shrine. Devotees have been arriving in Varanasi to participate in prayers and seek blessings during the auspicious period of Shravan.

After sunset, the illuminated temple towers present a particularly striking sight, with the golden-toned structures standing out against the night sky. Intermittent monsoon showers have added to the spiritual and seasonal ambience surrounding the shrine.

The elaborate decorations at Kashi Vishwanath Dham reflect the importance attached to the religious calendar during Sawan, when Varanasi witnesses heightened devotional activity and a steady flow of pilgrims to its sacred temples.
