Dilip Jaiswal steps down as Bihar cabinet minister

Patna, Feb 26,2025 : Bihar Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Dilip Jaiswal stepped down from the Nitish Kumar-led cabinet on Wednesday, sparking intense discussions about an impending cabinet reshuffle.

Jaiswal, who also serves as the Bihar BJP president, tendered his resignation earlier this morning, clearing the path for a fresh face in the state cabinet. His departure is seen as a strategic move ahead of the Bihar assembly elections scheduled for October-November this year.

Confirming his resignation, Jaiswal stated that the BJP has always upheld the principle of “one man, one post,” and his decision aligns with this tradition. He emphasized that it was the right time for him to dedicate his full attention to party affairs, particularly with the upcoming elections on the horizon.

With his exit from the cabinet, Jaiswal will now focus solely on strengthening the party’s organizational framework in Bihar. His leadership as the state BJP chief will play a crucial role in strategizing and mobilizing support for the party in the run-up to the elections.

Political analysts view his resignation as a calculated step, paving the way for a potential cabinet expansion that could see new faces being inducted to maintain a balance between governance and party leadership. The move is also expected to give the BJP greater flexibility in choosing its ministerial representatives, ensuring efficient management of both party and government responsibilities.

While Jaiswal’s resignation has fueled speculation about who might replace him, party insiders suggest that the BJP is keen on bringing in leaders who can strengthen its electoral prospects. The upcoming reshuffle is expected to be part of a broader strategy to reinforce the party’s position in Bihar, especially as it prepares to contest a tough electoral battle.

Jaiswal’s tenure as Revenue and Land Reforms Minister saw several key policy implementations, and his departure marks a significant shift in the state’s political landscape. However, his continued role as Bihar BJP president indicates that he will remain a key figure in shaping the party’s campaign strategy.

As Bihar gears up for elections, all eyes are now on the next move by the BJP and Nitish Kumar’s government. The cabinet expansion, whenever it takes place, is likely to reflect the evolving political equations within the state.
