FSSAI Enforces Strict Guidelines to Guarantee Safe Food at Mahakumbh 2025

New Delhi : As the Maha Kumbh 2025 unfolds in Prayagraj, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has implemented a robust set of measures to ensure that millions of devotees attending the event are served safe and hygienic food. The FSSAI’s efforts are part of a broader initiative to maintain high food safety standards during one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.

To ensure food safety, the FSSAI has deployed Food Safety Officers across key areas of the event. These officers are tasked with monitoring food vendors, inspecting food handling and storage practices, and ensuring that hygiene standards are strictly adhered to. Their presence on the ground is intended to address potential foodborne risks and provide real-time solutions to any challenges that may arise.

In addition to these officers, the FSSAI has set up Mobile Food Testing Labs, known as “Food Safety on Wheels.” These mobile units are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to test food samples on the spot for contaminants and food adulteration. The testing labs are strategically placed in various locations within the Kumbh Mela grounds to provide quick and efficient testing, ensuring that unsafe food is promptly identified and removed from circulation.

The FSSAI has also launched an extensive awareness campaign aimed at educating both vendors and devotees about food safety. These campaigns cover a wide range of topics, including proper food handling, cleanliness, and the importance of consuming only certified food from trusted sources. Through posters, pamphlets, and community outreach, the FSSAI is working to empower participants with the knowledge they need to make safe food choices during their visit to the Mela.

The measures are part of the government’s commitment to protecting public health at large-scale events. With millions of pilgrims from different parts of India and abroad visiting the Mela, the FSSAI’s vigilance is essential to minimizing the risk of foodborne illnesses. The organization is working in close coordination with local authorities, health departments, and food vendors to ensure a smooth and safe experience for everyone.
