Kejriwal Demands FIR Against BJP Leaders for Alleged Voter Transfer Scam

New Delhi, January 12, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor and New Delhi candidate Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday called on the Election Commission (EC) to promptly file a criminal FIR and take strict action against BJP Members of Parliament (MPs) from the New Delhi Assembly. Kejriwal accused them of attempting to manipulate the electoral rolls by transferring votes from across the country to their residences on a large scale.

In a letter addressed to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, Kejriwal claimed that several BJP Union Ministers and Cabinet members were involved in this alleged malpractice. He described it as a “blatant attempt to undermine the democratic process” and urged the EC to stop these suspicious vote transfers immediately.

Kejriwal further called for an investigation into the role of BJP MPs and Ministers whose residences are reportedly being misused for this vote transfer scheme. He demanded that a criminal FIR be filed against those involved and that strict action, including the disqualification of candidates such as Parvesh Verma, be taken for facilitating electoral fraud.

“It is unfathomable how such a significant number of voters could suddenly apply for transfers to these addresses without high-level planning by the BJP leadership,” Kejriwal said. “This pattern suggests a deliberate attempt to alter the voter rolls in favor of BJP candidates,” he added.

Kejriwal likened the situation to the days of widespread booth capturing, stating, “What’s happening in Delhi today reminds us of the times when India experienced rampant booth capturing at gunpoint.”

He further emphasized the scale of the alleged fraud, saying, “Had the BJP’s attempt to fraudulently remove 5,500 legitimate votes (5.5% of total voters) and add 13,000 fake votes (13% of existing voters) succeeded, the New Delhi constituency would have been permanently skewed by an alarming 18%.”

Kejriwal also highlighted that 33 new votes had been submitted for transfer to the official residence of BJP candidate Parvesh Verma. “Are we supposed to believe that 33 people from across India suddenly decided to shift their residence to Mr. Verma’s address overnight?” he questioned. “If this transfer is happening under the BJP candidate’s instructions, he must be disqualified from the election for engaging in corrupt practices.”

In his complaint, Kejriwal listed the names and addresses of BJP MPs involved in the alleged vote transfer scheme, accusing the party of orchestrating a widespread manipulation of the electoral rolls.
