New Delhi, July 28: In a major initiative aimed at strengthening the financial independence of women, the Delhi Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has approved the ‘Delhi Lakshmi Yojana’. The scheme will provide eligible women in the national capital with financial assistance of ₹2,500 per month.
The government announced that the online registration portal for the scheme will be launched on August 1. Eligible beneficiaries will be able to submit their applications through the portal, after which the applications will undergo a verification process before approval.
According to the government, the first instalment of financial assistance for the initial batch of eligible beneficiaries is expected to be credited by Raksha Bandhan this year. The initiative is aimed at enhancing the economic security of women and promoting their financial empowerment.
The Delhi government said the scheme reflects its commitment to supporting women through direct financial assistance and ensuring greater economic participation and self-reliance.
