Nashik BPO Case: 9 FIRs Filed, 8 Arrested as Nida Khan’s Family Disputes ‘Mastermind’ Tag

Police allege organised harassment and coercion at TCS-linked unit; family calls claims misleading and denies she is absconding

A major controversy has emerged from Nashik after allegations of sexual harassment, assault, and religious coercion surfaced at a BPO unit reportedly linked to Tata Consultancy Services. The case has quickly escalated into a large-scale investigation, with police registering nine FIRs and arresting eight employees, including seven men and one woman in a managerial role.

According to the police, the case unfolded after a detailed undercover operation that lasted over a month. Acting on an initial tip-off in February, a team of female officers reportedly joined the workplace posing as employees to observe internal practices. Their findings, officials say, confirmed multiple instances of misconduct, leading to formal complaints and subsequent legal action.

The first complaint was filed in late March at a local police station, where a young employee accused a senior colleague of repeated sexual assault under the false promise of marriage. Following this, several other employees came forward with similar allegations, including claims of mental harassment and pressure linked to religious beliefs. Authorities have described the accused group as operating in a coordinated manner, misusing their positions of power within the organisation.

At the centre of the controversy is 26-year-old Nida Khan, whom police have identified as a key conspirator and described as an “absconding mastermind” in relation to alleged religious coercion. However, her family has strongly challenged this narrative. They maintain that she is not on the run but is currently in Mumbai, and claim that no police officials have contacted them regarding her whereabouts.

Family members have also disputed her role within the company, stating that she worked in a junior capacity and was not part of the human resources department, contrary to claims circulating online. They allege that misinformation, including edited images and incorrect designations, has contributed to her portrayal in the case. Her legal team is reportedly preparing to seek anticipatory bail.

Investigators are also examining claims that employees were discouraged from reporting harassment internally. In one alleged instance, a complainant was told by a senior official that such incidents were routine, raising concerns about workplace accountability. Authorities are further probing possible external links, including communication suggesting opportunities to send employees abroad, which has drawn the attention of agencies like the National Investigation Agency and the Anti-Terrorism Squad.

Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services has taken action against those arrested, confirming the termination of most of the accused employees. Senior leadership has described the allegations as deeply troubling and stated that an internal inquiry is underway. The case has also raised questions about the effectiveness of internal grievance mechanisms, as investigators look into why affected employees did not utilise them earlier.

As the probe continues, the case remains under close scrutiny, with multiple agencies involved and conflicting claims adding complexity to an already serious set of allegations.
