Shillong, June 7 – A fresh twist has emerged in the case of a honeymooning couple from Indore who vanished in Meghalaya late last month. Newly recovered CCTV footage shows Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam arriving at a Shillong homestay just a day before they were reported missing.

The couple, both in their late twenties, had reached Mawlakhiat village on May 22, using a rented scooter to explore the scenic state as part of their honeymoon. That evening, they trekked nearly 3,000 steps to reach the famed living root bridges of Nongriat village in the Sohra region, where they spent the night.

By the morning of May 23, they had checked out of the homestay—but then vanished without a trace. Authorities began a frantic search operation, and on Monday, Raja’s body was discovered in a gorge around 20 kilometers from the village. His wife Sonam remains missing as of the latest reports.

On May 24, the couple’s scooter was found abandoned near a café en route from Shillong to Sohra, raising further concerns about foul play.

The latest CCTV clip, reportedly accessed by T7 News Channel, shows the couple riding up to the homestay on a scooter on May 22. Dressed in black jackets and carrying a white suitcase, they are seen unloading their belongings. Raja enters to speak with hotel staff while Sonam waits outside, adjusting her hair and jacket.

Though the authenticity of the video is yet to be independently verified, it may provide key insights into the couple’s final known movements.

Investigations are ongoing, with police yet to confirm whether this case involves foul play or an accident. Search efforts continue for Sonam, as her family and the broader public await answers in what has quickly become one of Meghalaya’s most unsettling mysteries.
