Kolkata, May 4, 2026: As the Bharatiya Janata Party continued to gain substantial ground in West Bengal Assembly election trends, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee issued an urgent appeal to Trinamool Congress workers and counting agents, asking them to remain stationed at vote counting centres across the state.
Expressing concern over the ongoing counting process, the Trinamool Congress chief alleged that vote tabulation had been halted at nearly 100 locations. In her public message, Banerjee warned party supporters to stay alert and closely monitor developments at every counting venue.
Reiterating concerns she had raised earlier, Banerjee claimed that initial rounds were expected to project the BJP in the lead before the counting process experienced interruptions. Her remarks came at a time when election trends showed the BJP crossing key electoral milestones, intensifying political tensions across Bengal.
The TMC leadership’s emergency response reflects growing anxiety within the ruling party as the possibility of a major electoral setback looms large. Party workers were instructed to maintain a strong presence to safeguard what Banerjee described as the integrity of the democratic process.
The allegations have further heightened the charged political atmosphere in West Bengal, where counting day has already witnessed sharp reactions from both camps amid one of the state’s most closely watched electoral battles.
