Arjun Kapoor’s ‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’ to Clash with Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ at the Box Office

New Delhi : Arjun Kapoor’s much-awaited comeback film Mere Husband Ki Biwi, which hit theaters on February 21, has struggled to make a significant impact at the box office despite extensive promotions. The romantic comedy, co-starring Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh, was anticipated to have a strong opening. However, according to early estimates from Sacnilk.com, the film earned only Rs 1.5 crore on its first day.

The movie’s initial performance has been disappointing, especially when compared to the ongoing success of Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, which has dominated the box office since its release. Chhaava has already surpassed Rs 200 crore in earnings, attracting large audiences and leaving Mere Husband Ki Biwi struggling to gain traction. The romantic comedy recorded an occupancy rate of just 14.12% on its opening day, with a modest increase to 22.93% during evening shows.

Despite a robust promotional campaign, Mere Husband Ki Biwi faces stiff competition from other releases, including the Tamil action-drama Dragon and Hollywood’s thriller Baby Girl, further impacting its box office potential. Trade analysts predict that unless the film sees a significant boost in ticket sales over the weekend, it may face difficulties recovering its production budget of Rs 60 crore.

Adding to the pressure is the sustained popularity of Chhaava, which continues to draw audiences across theaters nationwide. The film’s success has set a high benchmark, making it challenging for Mere Husband Ki Biwi to catch up. Industry experts note that the film’s performance in the coming days will be crucial in determining its long-term box office prospects. Positive word-of-mouth could potentially help it gain momentum, but the competition from established hits and new releases remains a significant hurdle.

As the weekend approaches, all eyes are on whether Mere Husband Ki Biwi can improve its numbers or if it will continue to lag behind, especially with Chhaava maintaining its stronghold at the box office.
