Railway Minister V. Somanna Reviews Progress of Major Rail Infrastructure Projects in Karnataka

Minister directs officials to expedite Tumakuru–Davanagere and Tumakuru–Rayadurg rail line projects

Bengaluru, June 8: Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna reviewed the progress of several key railway infrastructure projects in Karnataka during a meeting with officials of the South Western Railway’s Construction Unit in Bengaluru.

The review meeting was held at the Chief Administrative Office in Bengaluru Cantonment, where the minister assessed ongoing works and discussed upcoming railway development initiatives in the Tumakuru–Yesvantpur section.

During the meeting, Somanna examined the implementation status of the Tumakuru–Davanagere and Tumakuru–Rayadurg new railway line projects. Stressing the importance of these projects for regional connectivity and economic development, he directed officials to accelerate construction activities and ensure timely execution.

The minister also reviewed the progress of Road Over Bridge (ROB) and Road Under Bridge (RUB) projects being undertaken in various locations. He emphasized that the completion of these works is essential for improving passenger safety, reducing traffic congestion and enhancing connectivity for local communities.

Officials briefed the minister on the current status of construction activities, project timelines and challenges being faced in execution. Somanna instructed railway authorities to closely monitor progress and address bottlenecks to avoid delays.

Chief Administrative Officer of South Western Railway Construction Unit, Ajay Sharma, along with other senior railway officials, attended the meeting and provided updates on the ongoing projects.

The review forms part of the Railways Ministry’s efforts to strengthen rail infrastructure in Karnataka and improve transportation facilities across the region through enhanced connectivity and modernisation projects.
