New Delhi, May 26, 2026: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday convened a meeting with senior representatives of four leading public sector banks to discuss measures for strengthening the payment gateway system used by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
Officials from State Bank of India (SBI), Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, and Indian Bank participated in the discussions, which focused on improving the digital payment experience for students availing various post-examination services.
Focus on Student-Friendly Digital Services
During the meeting, Pradhan stressed the importance of creating a secure, efficient, and hassle-free payment ecosystem for students. He highlighted that services such as answer sheet photocopies, re-evaluation requests, and other fee-based academic processes should be supported by a reliable payment infrastructure.
The minister instructed the participating banks to collaborate closely with CBSE in developing stronger payment protocols. These measures are expected to facilitate seamless transactions, ensure prompt resolution of payment-related complaints, and provide automatic refunds in cases of failed or duplicate payments.
Advanced Monitoring and Faster Grievance Redressal
Pradhan also called for the integration of advanced technical safeguards and real-time monitoring systems to minimize disruptions and strengthen the overall payment gateway framework. He emphasized that students should not face technical issues while making payments for essential academic services.
According to officials, the banks have been asked to establish more responsive grievance redressal mechanisms to address transaction-related concerns swiftly and effectively.
Banks Assure Full Cooperation
Representatives of the four public sector banks assured the Ministry of Education of their complete support in implementing the proposed upgrades. They committed to working alongside CBSE to introduce enhanced technical solutions and strengthen the payment platform at the earliest.
The latest meeting comes days after Pradhan held consultations with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on May 24 regarding payment and technical difficulties encountered by students during CBSE’s post-result and re-evaluation processes.
The Ministry expects the proposed improvements to enhance the reliability of CBSE’s online payment services and provide a smoother experience for students across the country.
