Amit Shah to Attend Dahegam APMC Amrit Mahotsav in Gujarat

New agricultural infrastructure project aims to improve farm marketing, support growers and strengthen Gujarat's rural economy

New Delhi, July 12, 2026;Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Gujarat’s Gandhinagar district on Monday, July 13, to participate in the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Dahegam. The event will feature the inauguration of a newly developed vegetable sub-yard designed to enhance agricultural trade and provide improved marketing facilities for farmers.

The new market infrastructure is expected to streamline the sale and distribution of fresh vegetables while creating a more efficient marketplace for growers, traders and buyers. The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to modernise agricultural marketing systems and improve the rural economy through cooperative institutions.

The programme will also include a plantation drive under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, during which Amit Shah will plant a sapling to promote environmental conservation and encourage public participation in tree plantation.

As part of the celebrations, the Union Minister will unveil a commemorative publication highlighting the journey and achievements of Dahegam APMC over the past 75 years. The publication documents the committee’s contribution to agricultural marketing and cooperative development in the region.

Shah is also expected to hold discussions with members of the Dahegam APMC Board to review the institution’s progress and exchange views on strengthening cooperative-led agricultural development.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Dahegam APMC Chairman Sumeru Amin, representatives from the cooperative sector, market committee members and other senior dignitaries are expected to attend the function.

The event underscores the government’s continued focus on expanding agricultural infrastructure, promoting cooperative institutions and creating better market opportunities for farmers across the country.
