Haryana Assembly Committee Reviews Skill Development Initiatives at SVSU

Five-member Vidhan Sabha panel praises the university's industry-linked education model, startup ecosystem and youth empowerment efforts during Palwal visit.

Palwal: A delegation of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha’s Committee on Welfare of Youth and Youth Affairs visited Shri Vishwakarma Skill University (SVSU) on Friday to review the university’s initiatives in skill development and youth empowerment. The delegation, led by Committee Chairperson and Samalkha MLA Manmohan Bhadana, comprised five legislators who assessed the university’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, industry partnerships, placement and internship mechanisms, and academic as well as infrastructural facilities.

Apart from Shri Manmohan Bhadana, the delegation included Hodal MLA Shri Harinder Singh, Meham MLA Shri Balram Dangi, Narnaund MLA Shri Jassi Petwar, and Ganaur MLA Shri Devender Singh Kadyan. Principal Secretary to the Government of Haryana, Shri Rajiv Ranjan (IAS), was also present during the visit.

The visiting legislators and senior officials were welcomed by SVSU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar. Students of the University’s Department of Music accorded a traditional welcome with the vibrant beats of the Banchari nagadas, showcasing Haryana’s rich cultural heritage.

During a meeting chaired by Shri Manmohan Bhadana, Prof. Dinesh Kumar presented the university’s key achievements, ongoing initiatives and future roadmap. Dean Academics Prof. Vikram Singh gave a detailed presentation on SVSU’s unique skill-based education model and its industry-integrated academic framework.

Commending the university’s performance as India’s first Government Skill University, Shri Manmohan Bhadana appreciated its significant contributions to skill education and youth employability. He also offered valuable suggestions for further strengthening the institution and remarked that the university was undertaking commendable work, expressing confidence that it would continue to scale new heights. The committee chairperson also lauded the innovative projects and startups developed by the students.

Following the meeting, the delegation visited the University’s Centres of Excellence, equipped with advanced technologies and industry-grade machinery, and interacted with students at the startup exhibition stalls to gain first-hand insight into their innovations and entrepreneurial ventures.

During the interaction, Prof. Dinesh Kumar also urged the committee to consider improving highway connectivity and public transport facilities to the university for the benefit of students and staff. The dignitaries were later honoured with mementoes.

Registrar Suman Vashishth proposed the vote of thanks.

Among those present were Deputy Commissioner Palwal Jainder Singh Chillar (IAS), CEO, Zila Parishad Jitender Singh Chauhan, Vidhan Sabha Under Secretary Naveen Bhardwaj, Liaison Officer V.S. Chaudhary, Assistant Director, SDIT Vishal Sodi, Vidhan Sabha Reporters Sanjay Garg and Shri Sunil Kumar, besides the university’s deans, faculty members, heads of departments and a large number of students.
