Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Box Office Prediction: Ayushmann Khurrana’s Comedy Faces Slow Start Ahead Of Release

Advance Booking Signals Weak Opening For ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’

The much-awaited romantic comedy Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is finally arriving in theatres on May 15, but early box office trends suggest the film could witness a modest opening on Day 1. Despite an aggressive promotional campaign featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan, Vamika Gabbi and Rakul Preet Singh, trade circles believe the film may struggle to generate strong footfalls during its opening day.

Industry trackers indicate that the film’s advance booking response has remained below expectations. While comedy entertainers generally rely on spot bookings and weekend growth, current trends hint at a slow beginning for the Mudassar Aziz directorial.

According to trade estimates floating across entertainment portals, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is expected to collect somewhere between ₹3 crore and ₹5.5 crore on its first day in India.

Several analysts predict the opening number may settle near ₹3.5 crore if occupancy remains low during morning and afternoon shows. A few optimistic projections suggest the movie could touch the ₹5 crore mark if evening bookings improve significantly.

If these estimates turn out to be accurate, the film may end up among the lower opening-day performers in Ayushmann Khurrana’s recent filmography.

The biggest concern for the makers is the comparison with the 2019 hit Pati Patni Aur Woh. The original film, headlined by Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday, had opened strongly at the Indian box office with collections exceeding ₹9 crore on Day 1.

Current predictions suggest the sequel may not even reach half of that figure, making the opening weekend crucial for the film’s long-term performance.

Even though pre-release excitement appears limited online, the cast has been actively promoting the movie across Mumbai through interviews, city appearances and social media campaigns. The stars were recently spotted interacting with fans during street-food outings and promotional events.

The makers are hoping positive word-of-mouth after release could help the film gain momentum over the weekend.

In the movie, Ayushmann Khurrana plays Prajapati Pandey, a man who finds himself trapped in a complicated and hilarious relationship mess involving multiple women. The storyline blends confusion, romance and comedy, which has been the signature style of director Mudassar Aziz.

The actor recently described his character as a simple and honest man whose life spirals into chaos because of unexpected situations.
