World Leaders Greet PM Modi on Completing 25 Years as Head of Government

Leaders from Bhutan, Nigeria, Japan, Philippines and other nations congratulate PM Modi on completing 25 years as Head of Government.

New Delhi- Leaders from several countries have congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years as Head of Government, marking a political journey that began with his appointment as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001 and continued with his tenure as Prime Minister of India from 2014.

The messages from leaders across Asia, Africa, Europe and the Caribbean highlighted themes including governance, development, technology, infrastructure, global cooperation and bilateral relations with India.

 

Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay described Modi as an “avatar of our times” while extending his greetings on the milestone.

Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu called the 25-year tenure a rare achievement in a democracy. He highlighted Modi’s focus on development, infrastructure, digital public goods, financial inclusion and innovation, while also referring to the growing strategic partnership between India and Nigeria.

Tinubu recalled Modi’s November 2024 State Visit to Abuja, during which Nigeria conferred its Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger on the Indian Prime Minister. He said the visit gave fresh momentum to cooperation in areas including trade and investment, energy, defence and security, health, education and technology.

 

The President of the Philippines congratulated Modi on completing 25 years of continuous public service and highlighted his emphasis on good governance, technology, infrastructure and development.

The Philippine leader also pointed to the strengthening of India-Philippines relations, including the two countries’ strategic partnership and the Philippines’ recent decision to join the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure.

Nepal Prime Minister extended his “warm congratulations and best wishes” to Modi, wishing him and his government continued success and prosperity.

Japan’s Prime Minister also congratulated Modi, noting his long political leadership since 2001 and his role in India’s development and growing international profile. She referred to her recent visit to India and discussions on taking the Japan-India Special Strategic and Global Partnership forward.

She also highlighted the upcoming 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and India and the shared objective of advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Botswana’s President congratulated Modi on completing 25 years at the helm of government and commended his service to the people of India. He also expressed hope for continued friendship between the two countries.

Belgium’s Prime Minister extended congratulations on Modi’s 25 years of continuous leadership, from Gujarat to New Delhi. He also referred to his recent visit to India and expressed his intention to further strengthen bilateral ties.

The Prime Minister of Dominica described Modi as a “dear friend” and praised the friendship extended to Dominica and the support shown towards its people. He conveyed wishes for Modi’s good health, strength and continued success.

Former President of Serbia also congratulated Modi on completing 25 years of public service, noting his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister and subsequently as Prime Minister of India.

The messages collectively underscored the range of international relationships India has developed during Modi’s years in public office, with leaders referring to cooperation in development, technology, infrastructure, trade, strategic partnerships and multilateral issues.
