The Central Board of Secondary Education has officially announced the CBSE Class 12 Board Result 2026, bringing relief to lakhs of students across the country. Candidates who appeared in the examination can now access their scorecards through the official portals including CBSE Official Website, CBSE Results Portal and DigiLocker.
This year, the overall pass percentage stood at 85.20%, reflecting a decline of 3.19% compared to the previous academic session. Despite the dip, female students once again delivered a stronger performance than male candidates in the national board examinations.
According to the board’s official statistics, girls recorded a pass percentage of 88.86%, while boys secured 82.13%. The gap between both categories widened to 6.73%.
Transgender students achieved a perfect 100% pass result this year, continuing the trend of excellent performances in recent sessions.
CBSE guidelines state that students must secure at least 33% marks in every subject to qualify. Under the grading system, grades from A to D are considered passing, whereas an E grade means the student will have to appear for compartment examinations.
Among all CBSE regions, Trivandrum registered the highest success rate with 95.62% students passing the examination. Chennai and Bengaluru followed closely behind.
Prayagraj reported one of the lowest pass percentages at 72.43%.
The overall performance of Delhi students remained impressive this year. The combined pass percentage for Delhi East and Delhi West regions touched 91.97%.
More than 3 lakh students from the Delhi region appeared for the examination.
Institution-wise analysis revealed that Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan schools delivered the best performance with a remarkable 98.55% pass percentage. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya schools closely followed with 98.47%.
Government schools recorded a success rate of 89.55%, while private independent schools achieved 84.22%.
