New Delhi, October 7, 2025: The faculty and participants of the 65th National Defence College (NDC) Course met the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.
During her address, the President emphasized that national interests and objectives form the core of a country’s security framework, while universal values remain central to India’s ethos. She noted that India’s civilizational philosophy envisions the world as one family — promoting peace, brotherhood, and harmony. At the same time, she underlined the importance of remaining prepared to counter forces that threaten humanity and national security.
Highlighting the Armed Forces’ performance during ‘Operation Sindoor’, the President praised their joint operational strength and strategic foresight. She said that the well-coordinated tri-service effort led to the successful dismantling of terror networks both along and across the Line of Control.
The President also noted that the journey towards greater jointness among the forces began with the establishment of the Department of Military Affairs, headed by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). She added that the ongoing initiatives to form Integrated Theatre Commands and Integrated Battle Groups are vital steps in restructuring the defence framework.
Referring to the evolving geopolitical and security landscape, the President said that India must continue adapting with dynamic and technology-driven strategies. She expressed satisfaction that the country is steadily moving towards developing a modern, multi-domain, combat-ready military force.
Commending the National Defence College, she lauded its role in conducting an internationally recognized leadership programme, which she said has significantly contributed to fostering cooperation, mutual understanding, and strategic linkages among defence and security professionals at national, regional, and global levels.
