New Delhi : In pursuance of the directions of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Child Safety Awareness Month is being observed by Delhi Police from 1st July to 30th July, 2026. As part of this initiative, West District Police organised child-centric welfare and development activities in coordination with Department of Women & Child Development, GNCTD and Anmol Sahara NGO at Nirmal Chhaya, Tihar, Delhi on 05th July, 2026. The initiative aimed to promote the overall development, safety and well-being of children in institutional care.
Sharat Chandra ACP Rajouri Garden, Ms Promila Chhibber, West District Officer, Department of Women & Child Development, Ms Niti, Superintendent, Nirmal Chhaya, SHO Hari Nagar, Inspector CAW Cell, Inspector Rajeev Kakkar, Incharge PMMC Branch, along with the staff of PMMC Branch and other officers of West District were present during the programme.

The officers of PMMC Branch, West District, along with Mrs.Ekta Gupta from Anmol Sahara NGO, organised the following activities for the children:
a) Awareness on Child Safety, Good Touch–Bad Touch (POCSO Act and related provisions).
b) Demonstration of Self-Defence techniques for personal safety.
c) Information on Child Helpline 1098 and Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112).
d) Awareness on Cyber Safety and responsible use of social media.
e) Interaction on the role of Delhi Police in ensuring child safety and protection.
f) Painting and creative activities to encourage confidence and creativity.
g) Interactive and motivational sessions to build self-confidence and awareness.

The children actively participated in all the activities and interacted enthusiastically with the police officers and resource persons. The programme was conducted in a child-friendly atmosphere to create awareness about personal safety, cyber security and child protection while encouraging the children to express themselves confidently. The painting activity provided them with an opportunity to showcase their creativity and talent.
The initiative was highly appreciated by the children, officials of Nirmal Chhaya and representatives of Anmol Sahara NGO.
