Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia reviews Mobile Connectivity in Flood-Affected States

Minister urges telecom operators to act swiftly, ensuring uninterrupted communication for rescue and relief efforts in disaster-hit regions

New Delhi – Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, chaired a high-level review meeting  to assess and accelerate the restoration of mobile connectivity in flood-affected areas of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir. The meeting was attended by Secretary (Telecom) Dr. Neeraj Mittal along with senior officials from the Ministry of Communications, BSNL and leading telecom operators.

During the review, the Minister directed immediate measures to strengthen mobile services and ensure uninterrupted communication in regions severely impacted by floods and landslides. He stressed that reliable connectivity is critical for rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts, as well as for enabling citizens in disaster-hit areas to remain in touch with their families. Scindia called upon telecom service providers to work in close coordination with state authorities and deploy resources swiftly to restore damaged infrastructure, while also ensuring redundancy and resilience against future calamities.

The review underlined the government’s focus on maintaining essential communication services during natural disasters and highlighted the need for both short-term solutions for immediate relief and long-term strategies for building disaster-resilient telecom networks.
