Ranchi, February 22,2024 – Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren criticized the BJP-led Centre, alleging their focus on exploiting the state’s mineral and forest resources rather than prioritizing the welfare of its people. Speaking at an event to launch the ‘Mukhya Mantri Gram Gadi Yojana,’ a rural transport scheme aimed at providing bus services in remote areas, Soren accused the former BJP government of neglecting development and attempting to amend crucial land tenancy laws.
“The BJP government, backed by the Centre, prioritized the exploitation of mineral and forest resources over the development of the state. Their attempts to amend the SPT and CNT Acts led to their defeat in the Assembly polls,” stated Soren.
Soren further criticized the misuse of federal agencies like the ED to arrest former Chief Minister Hemant Soren on what he termed as baseless charges. Refusing to succumb to such tactics, he affirmed a commitment to continue working for the welfare and development of the state.
Highlighting the importance of the ‘Gram Gadi Yojana,’ Soren emphasized its role in bridging the transportation gap in rural areas. The scheme aims to provide connectivity between blocks, subdivisions, and district headquarters to ensure convenient transportation for rural villagers, including students, farmers, and patients.
Soren noted that despite facing initial challenges, the scheme received approval in October 2022. He announced provisions for free travel in buses for various groups, including senior citizens, students, and individuals with special needs.
The chief minister concluded by reaffirming his administration’s dedication to fostering development and progress in Jharkhand, contrasting it with what he described as the BJP’s lackluster performance over the years.
