Faridabad- On the evening of August 2, the Health Department conducted a raid at Sanjeevani Ultrasound Centre, Ballabgarh. After an eight-hour-long investigation, no evidence was found against the doctor. However, despite the absence of any incriminating findings, the ultrasound machine at the center was sealed.

This action sparked strong resentment among members of Indian Medical Association (IMA), Radiologists’ Association, and Federation of Obstetric and Gynecological Societies of India (FOGS). According to them, the entire operation was orchestrated by three members of a fraudulent gang, who have since been arrested by the police. The gang was allegedly involved in extorting money from establishments.

In protest, IMA convened an emergency meeting on August 3 at a city hotel, where doctors condemned the harassment of medical professionals and demanded the immediate unsealing of the ultrasound machine. As a mark of resistance, all ultrasound centers in Faridabad suspended ultrasound services for pregnant women.

On August 4, a joint delegation of IMA, Radiologists’ Association, and FOGS submitted a memorandum to the Civil Surgeon and the Deputy Commissioner Vikram Singh, urging immediate and fair action. The associations expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to patients and advised them to avail services at government hospitals during the suspension.

Dr. Rajeev Goombar, President of IMA; Dr. Deepak Gupta, President of the Radiologists’ Association; and Dr. Kiran Chandna, President of FOGS, jointly stressed that doctors must not be victimized or harassed due to the illegal activities of criminal gangs. They emphasized the need for responsible investigations that safeguard both doctors’ dignity and patients’ care.

Following the memorandum, the Civil Surgeon and Deputy Commissioner assured full cooperation and appropriate action. With this assurance, all ultrasound centers in Faridabad decided to resume normal services from August 5.
