In Bihar, eight people have died due to lightning strikes; CM Nitish Kumar has announced an ex-gratia payment for the families of the victims

In Bihar, at least eight people have lost their lives due to lightning strikes in the past 24 hours. The fatalities include three in Patna and Aurangabad districts, and one each in Nawada and Saran. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed his grief over the tragic loss of lives and has announced an ex-gratia payment of four lakh rupees to the next of kin of each victim.

The Chief Minister has emphasized the importance of safety during such weather events and urged citizens to take necessary precautions. The Meteorological Department has advised people to avoid going outdoors, especially for agriculture-related activities, during rain and lightning to prevent further incidents.

Additionally, the state government is working on measures to increase public awareness about lightning safety and improve response mechanisms to mitigate the impact of such natural disasters in the future.
