Fresh Clash Along LoC Marks Fourth Engagement in Kupwara Within a Month

Srinagar, Jul 27 2024 : In a recent violent confrontation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, two Indian Army soldiers sustained injuries, and one Pakistani national was confirmed dead. This intense exchange of fire unfolded early on Saturday morning near the Kamkari post in the Macchal sector of north Kashmir. The clash is part of a broader pattern of heightened military engagement in the region, with this being the fourth such encounter in Kupwara within the past month.

According to statements from the Indian Army, the wounded soldiers have been promptly evacuated from the site and are currently undergoing medical treatment at a nearby facility. The operation in the area remains active as forces continue to address the situation and ensure the safety of the region.

During the prolonged and fierce gunfight, which spanned several hours, it was reported that two intruders from the initial group of three managed to escape back to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). These intruders had previously launched a coordinated attack by throwing a grenade and opening fire on a forward post situated near the Kumkadi post in Trehgam sector. The ongoing military response underscores the continued volatility and security challenges faced in the region.
